As the world leader in aerial refueling technology, Eaton continues to advance critical systems and techniques required for mission success. Most recently, our team achieved a major accomplishment: the demonstration of a new, actively stabilized drogue prototype.
Conducted during a flight test with Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and Calspan Aerospace Test Services in Buffalo, New York, the demonstration was the initial phase of a multi-phase program that will drastically expand autonomous refueling capabilities for present-day and next-generation aircraft.
Eaton’s aerial refueling systems are positioned on nearly every refueling platform in service. With over 80 years of experience across five generations of aircraft platforms, we’re proud of the role we’ve played in leading and supporting aerial refueling breakthroughs. In 1949, we pioneered the “probe and drogue” method of aerial refueling, which set a new course for the capability. Soon, the method was qualified and adopted by the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, Royal Air Force, and so on.
As we look to the future, our team is excited to help shape the next chapter of aerial refueling. Please stay tuned for more updates as we continue to reach new heights in this field.
