Intelligent Notification Controller

Eaton’s Intelligent Notification Controller (INC) is a smart, modular panel that provides power to notification appliances with multiple means of supervision, superior diagnostics, and redundancy to improve the resiliency of fire alarm systems. The INC features a unique addressable notification circuit technology with its Sub-NAC modules. These devices provide the ability to current limit or open branch circuits containing a short, thereby, protecting the rest of the system.  Additionally, the INC can identify ground faults down to the Sub-NAC ID level. An industry first, this intelligent device utilizes rich data that it collects from branch circuits and reports to the INC to provide a high degree of fault tolerance and system resiliency.

INC - Not a typical power supply

The INC is a separate notification controller that can integrate fire, MNS, and access control

  • Output circuits can be programmed as NACs or auxiliary power
  • Aux power battery is circuit selectable for 0, ½, 2, 4 hours or continuous (text signs, door control, fan control)
  • 3 Programmable relays can be activated by any of the 4 inputs and replace traditional addressable relay modules

Sub-NAC unique addressable technology

  • Creates branch circuits of notification devices
  • Supervises for opens, shorts and over current
  • Allows long branch circuit wiring without significant voltage drop
  • Status LED visible with the front plate installed
  • Eliminates home run wiring and conduit
  • Compatible with Wheelock xenon and LED notification appliances and addressable Sub-NACs on the same wiring
  • 2 Class B or 1 Class A branch circuit, supporting up to 1 amp of power per branch circuit
  • Standard 4” backbox or mount in the INC enclosures

    Sub-NAC detection & reporting

    • Detection and reporting of open circuits, shorts, and current limiting by individual branch
    • Isolation of shorts and current limits by branch
    • Ground fault detection to the Sub-NAC level for easy technician troubleshooting
    • Digital communication back to the controller identifying the specific circuit fault for quick troubleshooting
    • T-taps are fully supervised by independent microprocessor

      • 8 Amps
      • 2 Inputs
      • 2 Relays
      • 4 NACs
      • Distance limited to 1.5 amps/NAC (due to voltage drop)
      • 10 Amps
      • 4 Inputs
      • 4 Relays
      • 4 Digital NACs
      • 32 Sub-NACs; 64 Branch circuits
      • 3 Amps/Digital NAC (No distance limitations)

      Benefits of the INC

      Easy-to-use, program, & maintain

INC’s LCD screen provides a menu driven interface for ease-of-use and efficient programming, diagnostics, testing capability, and ease of maintenance.
      • Simplifies configuration diagnostics and programming
      • View history and test notification devices without the fire panel
      • Displays description of specific fault conditions
      • Field programmable via menu screens or USB upload
      • History file with time and date

        Compatibility

Eaton's Wheelock devices are compatibility listed with the Intelligent Notification Controller independent of the fire panel so it can be added to any fire system.

The INC is also compatible with Wheelock’s legacy notification devices. This means existing projects have an upgrade path to the latest technology including our Addressable Sub-NACs and Eluxa LED devices mixed on the same wires.

        Lower equipment & installation costs

Ability to “T” tap the circuit and independently wire branches
        • Allows the safe installation of more devices
        Reduces equipment & installation costs
      • Fewer panels and batteries, less conduit and AC power
      • Reduces branch device current and allows longer wire runs
      • Unprecedented wiring diagnostics
      • Flexible programming
      • Ability to expand with modules instead of panels with Sub-NAC
        • Maintenance savings

          • Ease of troubleshooting faults by indicating the specific circuit needing examination
          • Superior diagnostics & supervision
            • Real-time, battery, current, and voltage readings, automated test (circuits, batteries, other components), and auxiliary power allocation
            • Ability to download detailed history file on USB stick to track maintenance and faults
