To promote greater energy-efficiency, many governments in Europe, especially in Germany, have created considerable incentives for the possibility of electricity and/or energy taxes. As a result, improvements in energy-efficiency not only enable companies to lower their energy costs, but also achieve significant tax savings. To qualify for these reductions, companies must implement an energy and environmental management system according to ISO 50001. The prerequisite for this is the installation of energy-measuring devices. As excise duties across the EU are largely harmonised, at least as far as energy taxes are concerned, the use of technical components across Europe is becoming increasingly important, especially given the EU's 2030 energy-efficiency targets.
